Mounjaro® (Tirzepatide)

Once-weekly dual GLP-1 & GIP injection

At a glance

  • Dual-action GLP-1 + GIP receptor agonist
  • Up to ~22.5% average body weight reduction in trials
  • Once-weekly injection · 6 strengths (2.5–15mg)
  • Often chosen for higher weight-loss goals
  • From £129/month - fixed price

How it works

Mounjaro (tirzepatide) is the first dual agonist - it activates both the GLP-1 and GIP gut-hormone receptors. Together these reduce appetite and 'food noise', slow gastric emptying so you feel fuller for longer on smaller portions, and improve insulin sensitivity and blood-sugar control. It is a prescription-only medicine used alongside a reduced-calorie diet and increased physical activity, not a replacement for them.

How effective is it?

Most patients notice reduced hunger within the first few weeks, with steady loss as the dose is titrated.

Dosing & how you take it

Once-weekly injection from a simple pre-filled KwikPen, on the same day each week, at any time of day, with or without food. You start low at 2.5mg for 4 weeks to reduce side effects, then step up gradually - 5, 7.5, 10, 12.5 and up to 15mg - only under clinician guidance based on tolerance and response. Store in the fridge (2–8°C); it can be kept at room temperature for a limited period before use.

Key benefits

  • Reduces hunger, cravings and 'food noise'
  • Improves blood sugar, insulin resistance and cardiometabolic health
  • Once-weekly injection with a simple pre-filled pen

Possible side effects

  • Nausea, especially when increasing dose (usually settles)
  • Constipation or diarrhoea
  • Reduced appetite, indigestion, burping
  • Injection-site reactions (usually mild)

Important safety information

  • Not for use in pregnancy, when trying to conceive, or breastfeeding
  • Avoid with a personal/family history of medullary thyroid cancer or MEN2
  • Tell your clinician about pancreatitis, gallbladder or severe gut conditions
  • May reduce absorption of oral contraceptives - use extra precautions when starting/increasing dose
  • Seek urgent help for severe, persistent abdominal pain (possible pancreatitis)

Who it's for

For adults who meet our clinical criteria for weight-loss treatment. Not suitable during pregnancy/breastfeeding or with certain thyroid conditions. A UK-registered clinician reviews your full history and confirms suitability before prescribing.

Wegovy® (Semaglutide)

Once-weekly GLP-1 injection · NHS-approved for weight loss

At a glance

  • Single-action GLP-1 receptor agonist
  • Up to ~15% average body weight reduction in trials
  • Once-weekly injection or new once-daily oral tablet
  • The only GLP-1 fully NHS-approved for weight loss
  • From £83/month - fixed price

How it works

Wegovy (semaglutide) mimics the GLP-1 hormone your gut naturally releases after eating. It acts on appetite centres in the brain to lower hunger and cravings and slows stomach emptying, so you feel satisfied for longer and naturally eat less. It is prescribed alongside a healthy, reduced-calorie diet and more physical activity.

How effective is it?

Wegovy is NHS-approved for weight management and one of the most extensively studied weight-loss medicines worldwide.

Dosing & how you take it

Once-weekly injection on the same day each week, any time of day, with or without food. Dose is titrated over ~16–20 weeks: 0.25mg → 0.5mg → 1mg → 1.7mg → 2.4mg maintenance (with a 7.2mg option for some patients), stepping up roughly every 4 weeks as tolerated. Store in the fridge (2–8°C) before first use. Safe to use alongside the contraceptive pill.

Key benefits

  • Fully NHS-approved for weight management
  • Reduces hunger and cravings from the first weeks
  • One of the most studied weight-loss medications worldwide
  • Safe to use alongside the contraceptive pill

Possible side effects

  • Nausea (usually settles over time)
  • Constipation or diarrhoea
  • Headache or tiredness
  • Injection-site reactions (usually mild)

Important safety information

  • Not for use in pregnancy, when trying to conceive, or breastfeeding
  • Avoid with a personal/family history of medullary thyroid cancer or MEN2
  • Tell your clinician about pancreatitis or gallbladder disease
  • Seek urgent help for severe, persistent abdominal pain

Who it's for

For adults who meet our clinical criteria for weight-loss treatment. Not suitable during pregnancy/breastfeeding. A UK-registered clinician reviews your history before prescribing and supports you with free monthly reviews.

FAQs

Treatment questions, answered

How much does Mounjaro cost in the UK?
Mounjaro (tirzepatide) at Slinic starts from £129 for the 2.5mg dose, rising to £267 for 15mg — fixed prices with no subscription and no hidden fees. As an NHS-contracted, GPhC-registered pharmacy, we offer transparent pricing that's among the lowest in the UK, with free clinical assessment and discreet tracked delivery from £4.99.
How much does the Wegovy pill (oral semaglutide) cost in the UK?
The oral Wegovy tablet at Slinic starts from £92, the same fixed price as our Wegovy injection, with no subscription or tie-in contract. Oral semaglutide was approved by the MHRA in June 2026 as a needle-free, once-daily alternative — our UK pharmacist-led team can assess whether the tablet is clinically appropriate for you.
Is there a Wegovy tablet, and when is it available?
Yes — the Wegovy tablet (oral semaglutide) is a once-daily, needle-free form of the same active ingredient as the Wegovy injection, available in the UK following MHRA approval in June 2026. At Slinic, the oral tablet starts from £92, and our clinicians will advise whether it suits your medical history, treatment goals and lifestyle.
What is Mounjaro and how does it work for weight loss?
Mounjaro (tirzepatide) is a prescription-only weight loss medication that reduces appetite and increases feelings of fullness, helping many patients consume fewer calories. Prescribed by our pharmacist-led team from £129 (fixed price), it's used alongside healthy eating and increased physical activity as part of a medically supervised programme.
What is Wegovy and how does it compare to Mounjaro?
Wegovy (semaglutide) and Mounjaro (tirzepatide) are both prescription-only weight loss medications available in the UK; they work slightly differently and may suit different patients. Wegovy starts from £83 and Mounjaro from £129 at Slinic — our UK clinical team recommends the most appropriate treatment following your assessment, with no subscription required.
Is Mounjaro or Wegovy available on the NHS?
Mounjaro and Wegovy injections are available on the NHS, but only through specialist weight management services with strict eligibility criteria and long waiting lists. The oral Wegovy tablet is not yet available on the NHS (a NICE review is unlikely to conclude before 2027). Slinic offers private access to both, with fixed pricing, free eligibility assessment and no waiting list.
Can I switch from Wegovy to Mounjaro?
Yes — many patients switch from Wegovy to Mounjaro after reviewing their progress with a clinician. At Slinic, we review your current medication, previous dose and treatment history before recommending the safest way to switch, with no subscription or switching fee.
Can I switch to Slinic from another weight loss provider?
Yes — if you're already receiving treatment elsewhere, our clinical team can assess whether you're suitable to continue your medication with Slinic. We review your treatment history and recommend the appropriate dose before prescribing, and because our prices are fixed with no subscription, switching often costs less than staying on a monthly plan.
What are the most common side effects of Mounjaro and Wegovy?
The most common side effects of Mounjaro and Wegovy are nausea, constipation, diarrhoea, vomiting and reduced appetite, which usually improve as your body adjusts to treatment. Slinic clinicians provide ongoing monthly clinical support to help you manage side effects safely, included at no extra cost.
What happens if I miss a dose or stop treatment?
If you miss doses or take a break, you may need to restart at a lower dose depending on how long you've been off medication. Our clinicians will review your history and advise the safest way to restart — part of the ongoing clinical support included with every Slinic treatment.
Which Mounjaro or Wegovy dose should I choose?
The right dose depends on whether you're starting treatment, continuing, or switching from another provider. Our UK prescribers review your clinical assessment and recommend the safest dose for your circumstances — you don't choose alone, and there's no cost to the review.
How quickly will I receive my medication?
Once approved by our UK pharmacist-led team, your medication is usually dispatched within 24 hours in discreet, tracked packaging. Slinic offers fast, confidential UK delivery from £4.99 with no subscriptions and no hidden fees.
Why choose Slinic for weight loss treatment?
Patients choose Slinic for award-winning clinical expertise at fixed prices with no subscription — Mounjaro from £129 and Wegovy from £83. As an NHS-contracted, GPhC-registered and LegitScript-certified pharmacy, we offer free eligibility assessments, pharmacist-led prescribing, consultations, ongoing monthly clinical support, and discreet tracked UK delivery.
Is prescription weight loss treatment safe?
Prescription weight loss medication is safe when used under the supervision of a qualified healthcare professional. Every Slinic patient completes a clinical assessment led by a registered UK pharmacist prescriber, and treatment is prescribed only when it's considered safe and appropriate for you.
Am I eligible for weight loss treatment?
Eligibility for weight loss medication typically depends on your BMI and medical history, and is confirmed through a free clinical assessment. Slinic's UK prescribers check whether treatment is safe and right for you — not just whether you meet the BMI threshold — and will advise on suitable alternatives if it isn't appropriate.
Can I buy Mounjaro or Wegovy online in the UK?
Yes — you can buy Mounjaro and Wegovy online from Slinic, a GPhC-registered UK pharmacy, following a free online clinical assessment. Only ever buy from a GPhC-registered pharmacy that requires a valid prescription; Slinic is also LegitScript-certified and NHS-contracted, with fixed prices and no subscription.
What weight loss treatments are available at Slinic?
Slinic offers a full range of clinically approved weight loss treatments, including Mounjaro (from £129), Wegovy injections (from £83), the oral Wegovy tablet (from £83) and Orlistat (£39.99). Every treatment includes ongoing clinical support, treatment reviews and personalised care from our UK pharmacist-led team.
