Overview: Finding the Cheapest Mounjaro in the UK — the Right Way
More than 2 million people in the UK are now paying privately for weight loss injections, and “cheapest Mounjaro UK” is one of the most searched healthcare terms in the country. That is understandable — Mounjaro treatment at maintenance doses can cost £285 or more per pen per month, and cost is a genuine consideration for patients managing ongoing treatment.
But as a superintendent pharmacist with 25 years of clinical experience, I want to be honest with you: the cheapest Mounjaro is not always the safest, the most effective, or even the genuinely cheapest once you add up everything that is not included in the headline price.
This guide gives you the complete picture — Slinic’s confirmed fixed prices for every dose, a full provider comparison, a breakdown of every hidden cost to check, an explanation of why the subscription model inflates total annual costs, and a seven-point checklist for evaluating any Mounjaro provider before you commit.
Slinic Mounjaro Prices 2026 — Every Dose, Every Cost
These are Slinic’s confirmed fixed 2026 prices for Mounjaro (tirzepatide). Fixed means fixed — they will not change mid-treatment, there are no hidden add-ons, and there is no subscription. Subject to final clinician approval before dispatch.

What Should Be Included in Any Mounjaro Price
Before comparing prices, you need to know what a legitimate all-inclusive Mounjaro price should cover. This is the complete list of costs that may or may not be included depending on the provider:
| Cost element | Included at Slinic? | Why it matters |
|---|---|---|
| Clinical consultation and assessment | ✅ Yes | Required by GPhC before prescribing — some providers charge separately |
| Independent weight verification | ✅ Yes | Required under GPhC Feb 2025 guidance — not all providers comply |
| Private prescription issuance | ✅ Yes | Some providers charge a separate prescription fee |
| Mounjaro KwikPen medication | ✅ Yes | The medication itself |
| Needles | ✅ Yes | The pen does not come with needles — they must be purchased separately if not included |
| Sharps bin | ✅ First order (starter pack) | Clinical waste disposal — legally required. Some providers charge extra. |
| Cold-chain tracked delivery | ✅ £4.99 | Mounjaro is temperature-sensitive — must be cold-chain delivered |
| Monthly clinical check-in | ✅ Free monthly | Essential for dose management, side effect monitoring, weight progress |
| Subscription fee | ❌ None | Many providers charge this — adds significantly to true monthly cost |
| Minimum term / cancellation fee | ❌ None | Some providers lock you in for 3–6 months |
Hidden Costs: What to Check Before You Commit
The most common hidden costs in UK Mounjaro pricing — the items that can turn a £99 headline price into a £170+ true monthly cost:
1. Needle surcharges
Mounjaro KwikPens do not come with needles pre-attached. They require separate pen needles, typically BD Microfine or equivalent 4mm or 5mm needles. Some providers include these, others sell them at £5–£15 per pack. If your provider’s headline price does not mention needles, ask explicitly before ordering. At Slinic, needles are included in every order.
2. Sharps bin charges
Used pen needles are clinical waste and must be disposed of in a licensed sharps bin. In the UK, local authorities provide sharps bin collection services, but you still need to purchase the bin initially. Some providers sell sharps bins as a separate add-on at £3–£8 each. At Slinic, your sharps bin is included in your free starter pack with your first order.
3. Consultation fees
GPhC guidance requires a proper clinical assessment before prescribing Mounjaro. Some providers include this in the medication price; others charge a separate consultation fee of £20–£50 per assessment or renewal. At Slinic, consultation is included in the medication price — no separate charge.
4. Delivery charges
Mounjaro requires cold-chain delivery — it cannot be sent via standard post. Cold-chain tracked delivery costs more than standard delivery, and some providers add £5–£15 per order. At Slinic, delivery is £4.99 per order — stated upfront, not added at checkout.
5. Coaching or programme fees
Some providers — particularly those operating subscription models — bundle a coaching programme, app access, or behaviour change content into their monthly charge. For patients who want this, it may be worth the premium. For patients who simply want the medication with proper clinical oversight, paying for coaching you did not want inflates your cost without clinical benefit.
6. Subscription minimum terms
This is the most financially significant hidden cost. Providers operating subscription models often require a minimum 3–6 month commitment. If you need to pause due to side effects, surgery, pregnancy, or any other reason, you may face cancellation fees or lose prepaid months. At Slinic, there is no subscription and no minimum term. You pay per pen, per order, with no commitment beyond the current order.

The Subscription Trap: Why Monthly Fee Models Can Cost More
Most UK weight loss injection providers — including Voy, Juniper, Second Nature, and Numan — operate subscription models. On the surface, a subscription of £99/month looks cheaper than Slinic’s £139 starting price. The mathematics are more complex than they first appear.
How subscription pricing works in practice
A subscription model bills you automatically each month regardless of:
- Whether you are experiencing side effects that require a dose reduction or temporary pause
- Whether your clinical progress means you need to switch doses (you pay the subscription regardless of which dose you receive)
- Whether you want to pause for any personal, medical, or financial reason
- Whether you are travelling, hospitalised, or otherwise unable to use the medication
The minimum term problem
Many subscription providers require a minimum commitment of 3–6 months. If you sign up for a 3-month subscription at £99/month and need to stop at month 2 due to side effects, you may lose the remaining prepaid month — or face a cancellation fee. At Slinic, you order when you need to and stop when you need to. No questions, no penalties.
The escalating dose problem
Mounjaro treatment starts at 2.5mg and escalates through six doses to a maximum of 15mg. With a flat subscription model, your billing does not necessarily change as your dose changes — you are paying the same subscription rate whether you are on 2.5mg or 15mg. At Slinic, you pay the price for the dose you are on. At 2.5mg you pay £139. At 15mg you pay £285. The cost is directly tied to what you are receiving.
Your Annual Mounjaro Cost at Slinic: A Realistic Estimate
Here is what a full year of Mounjaro treatment actually costs at Slinic, based on the standard escalation protocol reaching 15mg maintenance by month 5:
| Month | Dose | Pen price | Delivery | Monthly total |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Month 1 | 2.5mg (starting) | £139.00 | £4.99 | £143.99 |
| Month 2 | 5mg | £165.00 | £4.99 | £169.99 |
| Month 3 | 7.5mg | £225.00 | £4.99 | £229.99 |
| Month 4 | 10mg | £255.00 | £4.99 | £259.99 |
| Month 5 | 12.5mg | £275.00 | £4.99 | £279.99 |
| Month 6 | 15mg | £285.00 | £4.99 | £289.99 |
| Months 7–12 | 15mg maintenance | £285.00 × 6 | £4.99 × 6 | £289.99 × 6 = £1,739.94 |
| Total Year 1 cost at Slinic | ~£3,113.88 | |||
This assumes monthly ordering at each dose. Some patients order a second pen before escalating; timing varies by clinical response. Monthly check-ins, needles, and sharps bin are included. This is the true all-in annual cost at Slinic — not a headline figure.
Can I Get Mounjaro on the NHS for Free?
Yes — but for most patients, NHS access is not currently achievable. Here is the honest picture.
NICE TA1026 approved Mounjaro for NHS prescribing in 2025. A phased GP rollout began in June 2025. However, the initial eligibility criteria are very restrictive:
- BMI of 40 or above with at least four weight-related health conditions (type 2 diabetes, high blood pressure, heart disease, obstructive sleep apnoea, high cholesterol), or
- BMI of 35 or above with specific high-risk comorbidity profiles
This means that for the vast majority of patients who are currently accessing Mounjaro privately — those with BMI between 30 and 40, or those with fewer than four qualifying conditions — NHS Mounjaro is not currently available. The eligibility threshold will widen over a 12-year rollout programme, but this will be gradual.
If you believe you may meet NHS eligibility criteria, your GP is the right starting point. Ask specifically about the NHS Mounjaro GP rollout in your local integrated care board area.
In England, the standard NHS prescription charge is £9.90 per item (as of 2026). If you qualify for NHS Mounjaro, you would pay this charge per pen regardless of dose — making it dramatically cheaper than private prescription.
How to Get the Cheapest Mounjaro Safely: A Step-by-Step Guide
Here is the framework I recommend for any patient seeking affordable Mounjaro treatment:
Step 1: Check NHS eligibility first
If you have a BMI of 35 or above with qualifying conditions, speak to your GP about NHS access before paying privately. Standard NHS prescription charges apply — significantly cheaper than any private option.
Step 2: Calculate the true all-in cost, not the headline price
Use the checklist above. For every provider you consider, ask: are needles included? Is the sharps bin included? What is the delivery charge? Is there a subscription minimum? What is the consultation fee? Only compare like-for-like total costs.
Step 3: Verify GPhC registration before anything else
Search pharmacyregulation.org for any provider you are considering. If they are not on the GPhC register, do not purchase from them regardless of price. Slinic’s GPhC number is 1033729.
Step 4: Confirm independent weight verification
Under GPhC guidance updated February 2025, all online pharmacies must independently verify your weight before prescribing Mounjaro. Any provider that issues a prescription based solely on a self-reported weight is not compliant with current regulatory standards.
Step 5: Avoid subscription lock-in unless you want it
If you are uncertain how you will tolerate the medication, or if you want the flexibility to pause between doses, choose a provider with no subscription and no minimum term.
Step 6: Confirm ongoing clinical support is included
Monthly dose management, side effect monitoring, and progress reviews are not optional extras — they are part of safe Mounjaro prescribing. Confirm that clinical check-ins are included in the price, and that you can access your prescriber between appointments if needed.
Why the Cheapest Mounjaro Can Sometimes Be the Most Expensive Choice
This is the section most price comparison sites will not write — but as a pharmacist, it is the most important one.
Counterfeit and unlicensed products
The MHRA seized 5,851 falsified or unlicensed weight loss injections in 2025 — up 14-fold from 407 in 2023. Some of these were being sold as Mounjaro at prices significantly below the market rate. Genuine Mounjaro has a manufacturer minimum price that makes dramatic undercutting mathematically impossible without either subsidising losses or selling something other than genuine Eli Lilly product. If a price looks too good to be true, ask why.
Inadequate clinical assessment
Some very low-cost providers approve Mounjaro prescriptions within minutes based on self-reported questionnaires, without independent weight verification, without contraindication screening, and without prescriber review. Mounjaro has genuine contraindications — including thyroid cancer history, pancreatitis history, and specific drug interactions. A prescription issued without proper assessment is not just poor practice — it is a genuine patient safety risk.
No ongoing clinical support
Dose escalation errors, unmanaged side effects, and failure to monitor for complications are the hidden clinical costs of providers who issue prescriptions without follow-up. A patient who discontinues Mounjaro at 5mg due to unmanaged nausea — when dose reduction or antiemetic advice would have resolved it — has wasted their entire investment and lost the clinical benefit that proper support would have provided.
The safety premium argument
Slinic is NHS-contracted. This means we are held to the clinical governance standards that the NHS requires of its contracted providers. We carry out independent weight verification, provide free monthly clinical check-ins, monitor for adverse events, and manage dose escalation with the same rigour we apply to our NHS patients. That standard of care has a cost — and it is reflected honestly in our pricing. What it is not is inflated by subscription fees, coaching app charges, or marketing budgets.
Is Wegovy Cheaper Than Mounjaro? A Cost Comparison
For patients asking whether Wegovy offers a cheaper route to comparable results, the answer is nuanced. Our full Mounjaro vs Wegovy comparison guide covers the clinical picture in detail. Here is the cost picture specifically.
| Dose / Stage | Slinic Wegovy price | Slinic Mounjaro equivalent stage | Slinic Mounjaro price |
|---|---|---|---|
| Starting dose | £99.99 (0.25mg) | Starting dose | £139.00 (2.5mg) |
| Early escalation | £109.99 (0.5mg) | Early escalation | £165.00 (5mg) |
| Mid escalation | £114.99 (1mg) | Mid escalation | £225.00 (7.5mg) |
| Upper escalation | £159.99 (1.7mg) | Upper escalation | £255.00 (10mg) |
| Maintenance dose | £209.99 (2.4mg) | Maintenance dose | £285.00 (15mg) |
Wegovy is consistently cheaper per pen at Slinic than Mounjaro at the equivalent treatment stage. The Year 1 cost of Wegovy at maintenance would be approximately £2,300–£2,600 compared with approximately £3,100 for Mounjaro at maintenance — a saving of roughly £500–£800 over the year.
However, Mounjaro produces average weight loss of 22.5% versus 14.9–20.7% for Wegovy depending on dose. For patients who achieve greater results on Mounjaro and reach their weight goal faster, the higher-cost medication may result in a shorter total treatment duration and potentially lower lifetime cost. Your Slinic clinician will discuss both options at your consultation. See our Wegovy page for current pricing.
The 7-Point Quality Checklist: How to Evaluate Any Mounjaro Provider
Before ordering from any UK Mounjaro provider, use this checklist. A provider that fails any of these seven checks should not be trusted with your healthcare, regardless of price.
Search pharmacyregulation.org for the provider’s name. If they do not appear, do not order. Slinic: GPhC No. 1033729.
Verify at legitscript.com. The international standard for verified online pharmacies. Slinic is LegitScript certified.
The provider must independently verify your weight, height, and BMI before prescribing. Required under GPhC February 2025 guidance. Ask explicitly if unclear.
A registered UK prescriber (doctor, nurse prescriber, or pharmacist prescriber) must review your case before a prescription is issued. Automated approval based on a questionnaire alone is not compliant prescribing.
Confirm total cost including needles, sharps bin, delivery, and any subscription or minimum term before you pay anything.
Regular clinical check-ins for dose management and side effect monitoring must be part of the service. A pharmacy that simply dispenses and renews without clinical review is not providing adequate care.
Confirm the cancellation and pause policy before ordering. If there is a minimum term, understand what it costs to exit before the end date.

Why Does Mounjaro Cost More at Higher Doses?
This is a common patient question — and the answer is straightforward. Each Mounjaro KwikPen contains a set amount of tirzepatide. Higher doses contain more active ingredient per pen, and tirzepatide is an expensive biological molecule to manufacture. Eli Lilly’s wholesale price to pharmacies is higher for higher-dose pens, and this is reflected in the retail price.
The escalating price structure at Slinic directly mirrors the escalating medication cost. There is no arbitrary mark-up premium on higher doses — the price increase is proportional to the increased amount of medication in each pen.
The practical implication for patients is that the early months of Mounjaro treatment are the cheapest — starting at £139 for the 2.5mg initiating dose. The total annual cost increases as doses escalate. Many patients find that they can maintain meaningful weight loss at a sub-maximum dose — for example, 10mg or 12.5mg rather than 15mg — which produces significant cost savings at maintenance while still achieving clinically meaningful results. Your Slinic clinician will discuss your optimal maintenance dose at your monthly check-ins based on your progress and response.
Mounjaro Dose-by-Dose: What You Get and What It Costs
Understanding each dose is important — not just for cost planning but for setting realistic expectations at each stage of your treatment. Here is a clinical breakdown of every Mounjaro dose available at Slinic, what to expect at each stage, and the true all-in cost.
2.5mg — Starting Dose (£139.00 + £4.99 delivery)
The 2.5mg dose is an initiation dose only — it is not a therapeutic weight loss dose. Its purpose is to allow your body to adapt to tirzepatide and minimise the gastrointestinal side effects that would occur if you started at a higher dose. Most patients notice modest appetite reduction at 2.5mg but limited weight change. This is normal and expected. This is Slinic’s starting price — the lowest in our Mounjaro range — and includes your free starter pack (needles and sharps bin). Read more about what to expect at this stage in our Mounjaro week 1 and month 1 results guide.
5mg — First Escalation (£165.00 + £4.99 delivery)
This is where most patients start to notice significant appetite reduction. The 5mg dose is typically when the “food noise” begins to meaningfully quieten — the constant background preoccupation with food that makes conventional dieting so difficult. Early measurable weight loss typically begins at this stage. Side effects are usually at their most noticeable in the first two weeks of a new dose, then reduce. Total: £169.99/month.
7.5mg — Mid Escalation (£225.00 + £4.99 delivery)
Continued appetite suppression and accelerating weight loss for most patients. The 7.5mg dose represents the mid-point of the escalation phase. By this stage most patients have noticed meaningful weight reduction and the benefits are becoming clearly visible. This is also typically when the gastrointestinal side effects reduce to their lowest point as the body has adapted to tirzepatide. Total: £229.99/month.
10mg — Upper Escalation (£255.00 + £4.99 delivery)
Many patients find 10mg to be their optimal maintenance dose — producing maximum weight loss with well-managed side effects. The SURMOUNT-1 trial showed that even at 10mg, average weight loss was substantially higher than any previous medication (approximately 19% at 72 weeks). Patients who achieve their weight goals on 10mg may not need to escalate further — a clinical and financial consideration your Slinic clinician will discuss at your monthly check-in. Total: £259.99/month.
12.5mg — Higher Maintenance (£275.00 + £4.99 delivery)
For patients who have not reached their target on 10mg or whose weight loss has plateaued, 12.5mg represents the penultimate dose escalation. Most patients at this stage are experiencing very significant weight loss — often 15–20% of starting body weight. Total: £279.99/month.
15mg — Maximum Dose (£285.00 + £4.99 delivery)
The maximum licensed dose and the dose that produced the landmark 22.5% average weight loss in SURMOUNT-1. Not all patients need to reach 15mg — many achieve their goals at lower doses. But for patients who have the clinical indication and tolerate escalation well, 15mg represents the ceiling of Mounjaro’s licensed efficacy. Total: £289.99/month. For a complete clinical guide see our Mounjaro dosing schedule guide.
How to Legitimately Reduce Your Mounjaro Costs
There are several genuine clinical strategies for reducing the total cost of Mounjaro treatment — none of which involve compromising on safety or clinical oversight.
1. Stay at the lowest effective dose
Not every patient needs to reach 15mg. If you are achieving your weight loss goals at 10mg or 12.5mg, there is no clinical reason to escalate further. The difference in cost between 10mg (£259.99/month at Slinic) and 15mg (£289.99/month) is £30/month — £360/year. Your Slinic clinician will assess your progress at each monthly check-in and recommend escalation only when it is clinically appropriate. We will never recommend a higher dose simply because it increases our revenue.
2. Discuss dose interval extension at maintenance
Some patients at maintenance dose — having achieved their weight goal — can discuss with their clinician whether extending the dosing interval (for example, injecting every 10 days rather than every 7 days) is appropriate for their individual circumstances. This is not appropriate for every patient and requires clinical assessment, but where appropriate it reduces medication consumption and cost. This is a conversation for your monthly check-in, not a unilateral decision.
3. Consider Wegovy as a cost-effective alternative
If cost is a primary consideration and your clinical goal is achievable at a lower level of weight loss, Wegovy (semaglutide) starts at £99.99/pen at Slinic — meaningfully cheaper than Mounjaro at every equivalent dose stage. Annual cost on Wegovy at the 2.4mg maintenance dose is approximately £2,570 at Slinic — around £540/year less than Mounjaro at 15mg maintenance. See our Mounjaro vs Wegovy comparison guide.
4. Avoid subscription lock-in that prevents dose pausing
Some patients need to pause Mounjaro periodically — for surgery, planned pregnancy, illness, or financial reasons. With a subscription model, you may continue to be billed during a pause. At Slinic, you simply do not reorder until you are ready. The ability to pause and restart without penalty is a genuine cost saving for patients whose treatment is not continuous.
5. Plan your order timing to avoid unnecessary doses
Mounjaro pens are single-use — each pen delivers one dose. If you are escalating on schedule, you need exactly one pen per month. Over-ordering or purchasing multiple doses in advance when you are not yet at that dose is wasteful. Slinic’s monthly ordering model naturally prevents this: you order the dose you are on, for the month you need it.
Mounjaro on the NHS from Your GP: What You Need to Know
The NHS Mounjaro GP rollout that began in June 2025 is generating significant patient enquiries — many people are asking whether they can now get Mounjaro free from their GP. The honest answer is: possibly, but the eligibility bar is high and access varies significantly by area.
Current NHS GP eligibility (June 2026)
In the first phase of the rollout, NHS Mounjaro through GPs is available to patients with:
- BMI of 40 or above with at least four weight-related health conditions, or
- BMI of 35 or above with very high-risk comorbidities including type 2 diabetes with poor control, established cardiovascular disease, and additional conditions
This means that a patient with BMI 38 and hypertension — who would be eligible for private Mounjaro at Slinic — does not currently qualify for NHS GP prescribing. The threshold will widen over the 12-year rollout, but current access is restricted to the highest-need patients.
What to do if you think you might qualify
- Make an appointment with your GP and ask specifically about the NHS Mounjaro GP prescribing programme in your local ICB area
- Bring documentation of all qualifying health conditions including blood pressure records, HbA1c results, and cholesterol levels
- If your GP confirms eligibility, they will refer you through the appropriate pathway
- If you do not qualify currently, private prescription through a GPhC-regulated provider like Slinic is the appropriate alternative
Mounjaro vs Ozempic Cost: Why This Comparison Matters
Some patients ask about Ozempic as a cheaper alternative to Mounjaro. This requires careful clinical clarification. Ozempic and Mounjaro are very different products:
| Feature | Ozempic | Mounjaro |
|---|---|---|
| Active ingredient | Semaglutide | Tirzepatide |
| UK licence | Type 2 diabetes only | Weight management (obesity) |
| Maximum dose for weight management | 2mg (not licensed for this) | 15mg |
| Average weight loss at max dose | ~4–6% (diabetes trial data) | 22.5% |
| Licensed for obesity in UK | ❌ No | ✅ Yes (MHRA 2023) |
| Available at Slinic for weight loss | ❌ Not prescribed | ✅ From £139.00 |
Ozempic is not licensed for weight loss in the UK. Using it off-label for obesity treatment means receiving a lower dose than is clinically appropriate, from a provider operating outside the licensed indication. Slinic does not prescribe Ozempic for weight management. The licensed weight loss version of semaglutide — Wegovy — is available at Slinic from £99.99/pen at doses up to 7.2mg, producing 14.9–20.7% average weight loss.
Putting the Cost in Context: What Does £285/Month Actually Buy You?
For patients who find the maintenance dose cost of £285/month challenging, it helps to consider the clinical and economic context.
Obesity costs the UK economy approximately £58 billion per year in direct NHS costs and lost productivity. For individual patients, the conditions associated with obesity — type 2 diabetes, hypertension, cardiovascular disease, sleep apnoea, osteoarthritis — each carry their own significant treatment costs, both financial and personal.
SURMOUNT-1 data showed that 65.3% of retatrutide participants (with similar baseline BMI to Mounjaro trials) achieved BMI below 30 — no longer classified as obese — after approximately 18 months. For Mounjaro at 15mg, approximately 57% of participants lost 20% or more of their starting body weight. For a patient starting at 120 kg with a BMI of 40, losing 22.5% means losing approximately 27 kg — bringing BMI to around 31, close to the overweight/obesity boundary.
The clinical value of that change — in blood pressure normalisation, blood sugar improvement, joint pain reduction, sleep quality, cardiovascular risk reduction, and quality of life — is difficult to quantify in cash terms. What can be said clinically is that for patients who achieve meaningful weight loss on Mounjaro, the treatment cost compares favourably with the lifetime costs of the conditions it can prevent or reverse.
This is not an argument for every patient to start the most expensive dose — it is context for those who are weighing cost against benefit. Your Slinic clinician will discuss the clinical and personal cost-benefit picture at your consultation.
Frequently Asked Questions
Switching From Another Provider to Slinic: What You Need to Know
Many patients contact Slinic after starting Mounjaro with another provider — sometimes because their current provider’s subscription is costing more than expected, sometimes because they want better clinical oversight, and sometimes because they have had a poor experience with automated systems rather than real clinician contact. Switching is straightforward.
What you need to switch to Slinic
- Your current dose — so we can prescribe the right pen from the start
- A brief treatment history — how long you have been on Mounjaro, how you have tolerated it, any side effects you have experienced
- Completion of Slinic’s eligibility assessment — which covers your medical history, current medications, and confirms your weight independently
You do not need a letter from your previous provider. You do not need to have an NHS referral. You simply complete our eligibility assessment, our clinical team reviews your case, and if clinically appropriate we issue a prescription for your current dose and dispatch your medication.
Patients switching from a subscription provider
If you are currently locked into a subscription, check your cancellation terms before ordering from Slinic. In most cases, you can cancel your subscription effective from the next billing date — meaning you can place your first Slinic order once your current subscription period ends, with no overlap and no wasted payment.
Patients switching due to supply issues
Mounjaro supply disruptions have affected multiple UK providers at various points since launch, particularly at higher dose strengths. Slinic works directly with authorised Eli Lilly UK supply channels and has maintained consistent stock availability. If you have experienced delays or substitutions from another provider, our team can advise on current stock levels for your dose before you place an order. Contact us at slinic.co.uk/contact-us.
Mounjaro Storage: What You Need at Home
A consideration some patients overlook when budgeting for Mounjaro is the home storage requirement. Mounjaro must be stored in a refrigerator between 2°C and 8°C before first use. This means:
- You need dedicated refrigerator space — ideally away from the freezer compartment and not at the back where temperatures can drop below 2°C
- You cannot simply leave it in a bag or at room temperature before using it
- When travelling, you need a medication travel cooler or cool bag with ice packs if your journey will take more than a few hours
Once you have removed the pen from the fridge and used it for the first time, Mounjaro can be kept at room temperature (up to 30°C) for up to 21 days. Given that each pen typically lasts one month (one injection per week), most patients will keep their current pen at room temperature during the month of use and store any unopened backup pens in the fridge.
This is an important practical difference from the orforglipron pill and the Wegovy pill, both of which require no refrigeration. For patients who travel frequently or have limited refrigerator space, this is worth factoring into your provider decision.
Slinic’s cold-chain delivery guarantees that your Mounjaro arrives at the correct temperature. Our packaging maintains the cold chain from our pharmacy to your door, so you can be confident the medication has been stored correctly throughout its journey.
