Foundayo price UK — £83 at Slinic

£83 is a fixed 2026 price, not an introductory rate. There is no first-order discount code on this page, because there is nothing to discount from — the price of your dose does not rise in month two, or in month twelve. Why the higher strengths say TBC. Eli Lilly has not published a full UK list price by strength. We would rather tell you that plainly than publish a number now and revise it upwards later. Everyone starts on 0.8 mg for at least 30 days, so £83 is the price that applies to your first month, and every strength price will be published here and shown to you in full before you commit to a repeat.

For context, Eli Lilly has indicated UK private pricing in the region of £100 to £120 a month, below the roughly £330 monthly list price of its own Mounjaro injection.

Foundayo launched in UK pharmacies on 24 August 2026. Here is where published pricing stands as of 29 August 2026 — shown two ways, because the first-order figure and the ongoing figure are often very different numbers.

Am I eligible for Foundayo?

Qualifying weight-related conditions named in the licensed indication include prediabetes or type 2 diabetes, hypertension, dyslipidaemia, obstructive sleep apnoea and cardiovascular disease.²

For people from South Asian, Chinese, other Asian, Middle Eastern, Black African or African-Caribbean backgrounds, a lower BMI threshold — usually reduced by around 2.5 kg/m² — is commonly applied in weight management practice, because cardiometabolic risk occurs at lower BMI in these populations.

These are the same thresholds as Wegovy and Mounjaro. If you already qualify for either of those, you meet the BMI criteria for Foundayo.

What is Foundayo (orforglipron)?

Foundayo is the brand name. The medicine inside is orforglipron, made by Eli Lilly — the same company behind Mounjaro. It is a once-daily oral tablet, authorised by the MHRA on 10 August 2026 and launched in UK pharmacies on 24 August 2026.

The MHRA has authorised it for two separate purposes:

• Weight management, including weight loss and weight maintenance, as an adjunct to a reduced-calorie diet and increased physical activity, in adults with a BMI of 30 kg/m² or above, or between 27 and 30 kg/m² with at least one weight-related comorbidity²
• Improving glycaemic control in adults with insufficiently controlled type 2 diabetes, as monotherapy or in combination with other diabetes medicines²

The inclusion of weight maintenance in the licensed indication is unusual and important — it means Foundayo can be prescribed specifically to help keep weight off, not only to lose it. More on that in our maintenance guide.

Why Foundayo is genuinely different

Every GLP-1 medicine available in the UK before 2026 was a peptide. Semaglutide and tirzepatide are large protein-based molecules, and proteins are destroyed by digestive enzymes — which is why they’re injected. The Wegovy pill works around this with an absorption enhancer called SNAC, but only when taken on a completely empty stomach with no more than 120ml of plain water and a 30-minute wait before anything else.

Orforglipron is not a protein. It is a small, chemically synthesised non-peptide molecule, stable enough to survive digestion and be absorbed normally.

The difference in absorption is stark. Even with SNAC and strict fasting, the body absorbs around 1% of each oral Wegovy dose.¹² Orforglipron’s absolute bioavailability was around 77% after a 1 mg capsule dose, decreasing at higher doses² — which is why it works without any fasting protocol or chemical enhancer. A high-fat meal reduces exposure only marginally, by around 4% to 19%, which is why there is no food restriction.

How much weight can you lose on Foundayo?

In ATTAIN-1, the main phase 3 trial, 3,127 adults with obesity or overweight plus a weight-related condition were followed for 72 weeks. Mean baseline BMI was 37.0 kg/m², mean age 45, and 64% were women.²⁴

At the highest dose, 77.1% of participants lost at least 5% of their body weight, 59.6% lost at least 10%, 39.6% lost at least 15% and 20.1% lost at least 20% — against 22.1%, 8.6%, 3.6% and 1.6% respectively on placebo.²

The trial also recorded meaningful improvements beyond the scales: waist circumference fell by 11.1 cm at the highest dose, triglycerides by 21.6%, and hsCRP — a marker of inflammation — by 47.7%. Pooled across doses, systolic blood pressure fell by 6.14 mmHg against 0.78 mmHg on placebo.²

A separate trial, ATTAIN-2, studied 1,613 adults with obesity or overweight and type 2 diabetes, finding 10.5% average weight loss at the highest dose against 2.2% on placebo, alongside an HbA1c reduction of 1.8 percentage points.² Smaller weight response in people with diabetes is a consistent finding across all GLP-1 medicines, not something specific to Foundayo.

On body composition: a sub-study using DEXA scanning found weight reduction was primarily from fat mass, including visceral fat, though there was also a statistically significant reduction in lean mass.² That is the clinical reason resistance exercise and adequate protein matter during treatment rather than being optional extras.

Foundayo doses at a glance

The six packs pictured above are the six strengths below. Everyone starts at 0.8 mg for at least 30 days. Thirty days is a minimum, not a schedule — staying longer at a dose is a legitimate clinical decision and often the right one. Never take more than one tablet a day: the SmPC is explicit that more than one film-coated tablet a day should not be taken to achieve the effect of a higher dose.²

Foundayo vs the Wegovy pill and the injections

Being straight with you: if a weekly injection is manageable and maximum weight loss is your priority, Mounjaro is the better-evidenced choice, and its dual GIP and GLP-1 mechanism is the reason for the gap. Foundayo’s advantage is not greater weight loss — it’s that it’s a tablet you can actually take, at the lowest price on our range. For a substantial number of people that is the difference between treatable and untreatable.

Switching to Foundayo, and using it to keep weight off

People switch between GLP-1 treatments regularly — for cost, tolerability, supply reliability, or because a daily tablet fits their life better than a weekly injection. Transfers are welcome here. Four things matter.

There is no published dose-equivalence table. The UK SmPC contains no specific guidance for switching from another GLP-1. Your starting dose is a clinical judgement based on your current dose, how long you’ve taken it, how you tolerated it and how you responded.

Do not take the two concurrently. Foundayo should not be taken alongside another GLP-1 receptor agonist. Your prescriber will plan the transition.

Be realistic about the trade-off. Moving from tirzepatide to orforglipron means moving from a dual-agonist injectable to a GLP-1-only tablet. On average, that means less weight loss. Switch knowing that, rather than discovering it.

Have your evidence ready: your current dose, how long you’ve been on it, and a dispensing label, prescription record or order history. Without evidence of what you’ve been taking, a prescriber cannot safely continue you at a higher dose.

Coming off injections and want to keep the weight off?

This is the part of Foundayo’s licence most providers are ignoring. Because weight maintenance is written into the UK licensed indication — not just weight loss — Foundayo can be prescribed specifically for that purpose. In the ATTAIN-MAINTAIN trial, people who moved onto orforglipron after completing injectable treatment maintained 79.3% of their previous loss over 52 weeks coming from semaglutide, and approximately 74.7% coming from tirzepatide, against 37.6% on placebo.⁶ Those are study-group averages, not a prediction for any one person.

Foundayo side effects

Most side effects are gastrointestinal, most appear early or after a dose increase, and most settle as the body adjusts. In the placebo-controlled phase 3 weight-management studies, gastrointestinal effects occurred in 68.7% of people at the highest dose against 36.3% on placebo, and were mostly mild (61.8%) or moderate (34.3%), with 3.9% reporting severe events. At the highest dose, 6.8% of people discontinued because of gastrointestinal side effects, against 0.6% on placebo.²

Very common (more than 1 in 10): nausea, constipation, diarrhoea, vomiting, indigestion and abdominal pain.²

Common (up to 1 in 10): dizziness, headache, tachycardia, hypotension, abdominal distension, belching, reflux, flatulence, gallstones, hair loss, fatigue, and increases in amylase and lipase.²

Uncommon (up to 1 in 100): acute pancreatitis.²

Who Foundayo is not suitable for

The only absolute contraindication in the UK SmPC is hypersensitivity to orforglipron or any of the excipients.² Beyond that, the SmPC sets out cautions and situations requiring individual assessment. The ones that come up most often:

• Pregnancy and breastfeeding — not to be used in either. See contraception and pregnancy below.
• Severe hepatic impairment — not recommended. No dose adjustment is needed for mild or moderate impairment.
• Congestive heart failure NYHA class IV — not recommended, as there is no experience in these patients.
• History of pancreatitis — orforglipron has not been studied in these patients and should be used with caution.
• Severe gastrointestinal disease including severe gastroparesis — not studied; use with caution.
• Diabetic retinopathy or macular oedema — use with caution, and monitor for progression if you have a history of retinopathy.
• Insulin or sulfonylurea use — hypoglycaemia risk rises substantially; those doses need reviewing by whoever manages your diabetes.
• Current or past eating disorders — needs addressing with appropriate support first.
• Another GLP-1 or weight-loss medicine — do not combine.
• Under 18 — safety and efficacy have not been established, and no data are available.

Foundayo and other medicines

Orforglipron is a substrate of CYP3A4 and CYP2J2, and of P-gp, OATP1B1 and OATP1B3.² That gives it a wider interaction profile than the injectables, and it is the single most common reason a prescriber sets a dose ceiling or declines treatment. Bring your complete medication list to assessment — prescriptions, over-the-counter medicines, herbal products and supplements.

Caps your dose at 9 mg: strong CYP3A4 inhibitors such as ketoconazole, clarithromycin or itraconazole (clarithromycin increased orforglipron exposure 3.5-fold in study), and OATP1B inhibitors such as ciclosporin (2.6-fold increase).

Avoid alongside Foundayo: strong CYP3A4 inhibitors that also inhibit OATP1B — ritonavir and telaprevir are the named examples. Strong CYP3A4 inducers too: rifampicin, phenytoin and St John’s wort. Carbamazepine reduced orforglipron exposure by 82%, which would largely negate the treatment.

Needs a dose change: the simvastatin dose should be halved when taken with orforglipron — exposure to the active metabolite rose up to 2.5-fold, and this applies whether the two are taken together or the statin is taken two hours afterwards. Rosuvastatin needs no adjustment generally, but caution is advised above 20 mg. Oral topotecan needs careful monitoring for adverse reactions. Insulin and sulfonylurea doses may need reducing.²

Usually unaffected: metformin and SGLT2 inhibitors continue at their current dose. Moderate CYP3A4 inducers such as bosentan and efavirenz may reduce effectiveness — monitor response rather than avoiding them. Levothyroxine: unlike the Wegovy pill there’s no fasting window and therefore no timing conflict, though thyroid replacement requirements can change as weight changes. For most other oral medicines the SmPC states that, based on modelling, no clinically relevant effect is expected across the dose range.

Contraception and pregnancy

Women of childbearing potential should use effective contraception throughout treatment.

Foundayo should not be used during pregnancy. Because of orforglipron’s half-life, the SmPC advises discontinuing it at least three weeks before a planned pregnancy. If you wish to become pregnant, or pregnancy occurs, treatment should be stopped. It should not be used while breastfeeding — orforglipron was found in animal milk and a risk to the infant cannot be excluded.²

How to take Foundayo, and travelling with it

The Patient Information Leaflet supplied with your medicine is the authoritative source. In outline: once daily, at whatever time suits you, without food or water restriction. Roughly the same time each day keeps levels steady and makes side-effect patterns easier to spot. Swallow whole — tablets should not be broken, crushed or chewed. Keep it in the original bottle and carton.

If you miss a dose: resume as soon as possible. Never take more than one tablet in a day — do not double up to make up for a missed dose or to reach a higher dose.² If you’ve missed a long stretch, speak to your prescriber before restarting rather than assuming you can pick up where you left off — tolerance can reduce during a break. Travel is straightforward. No refrigeration, no cool bag, no sharps in hand luggage. Keep it in the original packaging with the leaflet, carry a copy of your prescription or a pharmacy letter for airport security, take a few spare days’ supply, aim for a consistent daily interval rather than a fixed clock time while changing time zones, and check whether your destination restricts bringing in prescription medicines.

Eating and exercise. Appetite reduction makes eating less easy — the risk is eating less of everything. Prioritise protein to protect lean muscle, include fibre adjusted to your symptoms, eat smaller portions more often, and drink enough. Include resistance exercise: the ATTAIN-1 body composition sub-study found a significant reduction in lean mass alongside the fat loss, which is exactly why it matters. Do not crash diet — combining very low intake with a medicine that already reduces intake substantially increases the risk of nutritional deficiency, muscle loss, fatigue, hair thinning and gallstones.

Will Foundayo be available on the NHS?

Not currently. MHRA authorisation and NHS funding are two separate processes. The MHRA decides whether a medicine is safe, effective and of suitable quality to be sold — that decision was made on 10 August 2026. NICE decides whether the NHS should fund it, and for whom. NICE guidance on Foundayo is expected in November 2026.

On the pattern of recent appraisals, NHS availability would be some way off even after a positive decision, and likely restricted initially to defined groups. The tirzepatide rollout, for comparison, is being phased over roughly 12 years starting from the highest-need cohort. For now, UK access to Foundayo is through private prescription. Buying Foundayo safely online

A newly launched, heavily publicised weight-loss medicine reliably attracts illegitimate sellers. Treat these as absolute red flags:

• Anyone selling without a prescription. Foundayo is a POM. A site that will sell it without a clinical assessment and a prescriber did not obtain it through the authorised supply chain.
• Social media sellers. Instagram, TikTok, Facebook groups and messaging apps are not legal supply routes for prescription medicines.
• “Research chemical” or “not for human consumption” versions. Not medicines, not made to pharmaceutical standards.
• Prices far below the market range. Genuine UK-licensed stock has a wholesale cost.
• A headline price that only applies to month one. Not a safety issue, but check what you’ll pay in month six before you commit.

How to verify any provider — including us

Find the GPhC registration number and look it up on the GPhC register yourself. A number displayed on a website proves nothing until you verify it independently.
